Congrats Jacob Hatvany, Ph.D.!

This week, Jacob defended his dissertation “Expanding Mass Spectrometric Analysis of Carbohydrates and Glycoconjugates via Microdroplet Reactions and Electrospray Ionization”. The past five years has culminated in Jacob becoming an expert in microdroplet reactions through his pH and theta tip work. Read all about his works here: Effect of pH on In-Electrospray Hydrogen/Deuterium Exchange of Carbohydrates and Peptides (DOI: https://doi.org/10.1021/jasms.3c00341) and Hydrogen/deuterium exchange for the analysis of carbohydrates (DOI: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.carres.2023.108859).

Of course we couldn’t let him leave without his celebratory piñata! See below for some of the action shots from his exam and of him smashing his “kick some mass” piñata.
