Tara Liyanage

Biography:

Tara is a graduate student expected to graduate in the Fall of 2020. She is currently working on developing in-source HDX methodologies for characterization of carbohydrate structures with the ultimate goal of characterizing solvated glycan conformations.

Current Area:

Fundamentals of Electrospray Ionization Mass Spectrometry

Hydrogen/Deuterium Exchange is a very robust technique that is widely used to study protein structure and dynamics. However, the application of HDX-MS methodology to study carbohydrate structure has not shown the same usefulness as it has shown for proteins due to several limitations. My project focuses on addressing the current limitations of this technique to make HDX-MS methodologies applicable to study carbohydrate structure and dynamics.
